Abstract:Curcumin is a low molecular weight polyphenol compound derived from the rhizome of the plant Curcuma longa. Curcumin was reported to have anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidation and other pharmacological effects.In recent years, curcumin has also been shown to be effective in several neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, neuropathic pain, and neuroblastoma. This paper reviewed the neuroprotective effects and the potential therapeutic mechanisms of curcumin.
